Actualité - Chavez Vaults US Hurdle for UN Talk

Caracas, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez ratified Wednesday he will appear before the UN General Assembly the next week despite obstacles placed by US authorities.

Chavez informed of Washington s denial to give an entry visa to his accompanying medical team, the chief of the Presidential Guard plus his personal security staff.

"Such a position outrages international conventions linked to the rules of the UN headquarters," he noted, stressing he will be there on the date set to deliver his speech.

Concerning Venezuela s intentions to be a non-permanent member of the Security Council, Chavez highlighted that Caracas is widely buttressed by almost all African nations, partners of the Common Market of the South, the Caribbean Community, China, Belorussia, Russia and the Arab League.

In addition, the statesman mentioned various projects to be realized over the next fourteen years such as the modernization of the cities in the Eje Norte Llanero and the construction of a new city, Santa Cruz del Sur.
