Actualité - 240 rubber bullets fired on protesting immigrants

LOS ANGELES, May 3.—The 240 rubber bullets fired by Los Angeles Police officers into a demonstration demanding immigration reform on May Day is evidence of the violent tendency of the repressive forces in that city.

Firing off 240 rounds is worrying and serious, LAPD Chief William Bratton acknowledged.

As can be seen in television footage, the shots were fired directly into the crowd, which included women, children and the elderly.

Colleen Flynn, a member of the National Lawyers Guild, affirmed that people didn’t know what was happening and had no idea the police were going to act in that way, and that the police had no justification to fire on people when the park was full of families and women with children, who had no time to leave.
