Beirut, Jul 21 (Prensa Latina) - Israel officially announced Friday a ground offensive against Lebanon, where already more than 350 Lebanese have been killed, mostly civilians, and a thousand others wounded, in ten days of offensive.

The latest announcement was made by Israeli Minister of Defense Amir Peretz, who, however, ruled out an invasion and temporary occupation like in 1982, since it would seemingly imply a high human cost, according to observers.

Nearly ten Israeli soldiers have been killed in incursions into South Lebanon, where Tel Aviv says most of the Hezbollah militants, who hold captive two Israeli soldiers since 13 days ago, are concentrated.

The Israeli military invasion of the small neighboring country made on Friday the Lebanese minister of Defense, Elias Murr, announce that the Army will be deployed all over the national territory.

Murr denied any coordination between his country´s Army and the Islamic militia.

The victims of Israeli artillery and air strikes are mostly civilians, and have unidentified wounds which have a strange smell and black colour in the skin.

Medical sources are convinced that Israel is using white phosphorus missiles and bombs in its attacks against Lebanon. Those weapons are banned by international agreements.

Israel´s warplanes Friday extended their attacks to Bekaa valley, east Lebanon, and Baalbeck city, creating panic among Lebanese residents who were running away by road.

Their air raids that day re-targeted Beirut´s suburbs and blocked ports and airport terminals.
