Beirut, Jul 28 (Prensa Latina) - Israeli warplanes fired missiles at residential zones in east and south Lebanon, including the regions of Nabatiye and Tiro, early on Friday, witnesses and local police reported.

According to official sources, Tel Aviv"s air strikes killed five civilians and caused huge damage in south Nabatiye.

Israeli jets shelled a building in Tiro on Friday, with the pretext that it housed a Hezbollah operation command, but no further information has been provided so far.

Tel Aviv"s warplanes also destroyed two buildings in the village of Kfar Jouz near Nabatiyeh, and civil defense teams were struggling to rescue people believed buried in the rubble, witnesses said.

In the southern region of Yabur, Israel´s air strikes killed at least three people and the number of wounded is still unknown.

Also Friday, Israeli jets struck roads in south-eastern Lebanon, a Lebanese army checkpoint in Ansar village and a castle in Arnoun village near the Lebanon-Israel border.

In addition, Israeli jets launched more than 30 missiles at suspected Hezbollah hideouts in hills and mountainous areas in the southern part of the country.

Tel Aviv forces resort to the use of the air force due to the impossibility of launching a ground offensive.

The Israeli infantry has been trying to overcome obstacles in the southern Lebanese locality of Bint Jebeil, where Tel Aviv troops are clashing with local resistance since Sunday.

At least 438 people have been reported killed in Lebanon since Israel began its fierce and deadly aggression of its neighboring Arab country on July12, after Islamic Hezbollah guerrillas captured two Israeli soldiers.
