Gaza, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert supported on Monday a continuation of attacks against the Gaza Strip, after a proposal to exchange prisoners was rejected.

His reluctance was accompanied by new penetrations of the Palestinian territory, which resulted in devastation and killing of civilians, according to reports.

The Palestinian commandos which kidnapped army corporal Gilad Shalit gave an ultimatum for Israel to reach an agreement, but Tel Aviv turned down the offer and threatened with further reprisal.

On Monday, Israeli tanks advanced another 0.62 mile into the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Minister of Justice, Jaim Ramon, warned that military operations will get more drastic if the soldier is executed.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniye asked Israel to stop the aggression and resort to diplomatic means to get the captive's release.

He blamed Israeli authorities for the consequences of continued violence.

Meanwhile, more than 200 families of Palestinian prisoners took to the streets to demand the release of their beloved ones and support the Hama members who abducted the Israeli soldier as part of a bold operation 10 days ago.

The demonstrators called on the international community to intervene to stop the aggression and press in order to achieve an exchange of prisoners, which is a right of any party in conflict.

Israel's pretext to carry out the military operation is the alleged release of soldier Gilad Shalit, but it was denied by a disproportionate use of force, including the detention of Palestinian ministers, deputies and members of the resistance.
