Actualité - Israel Accused of Crime against Humankind

Beirut, Aug 20 (Prensa Latina) - Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora on Sunday accused the Israeli government of committing a crime against humankind after bombing his country for over 30 days.

Siniora´s statements came during a visit to a city in ruins south of this capital.

"This is a criminal act which reflects Israel"s hatred to destroy Lebanon and its unity," stressed Siniora, who urged the international media to report on this criminal act against humankind perpetrated by Tel Aviv.

Israel´s attacks have killed more than 1,300 people and wounded thousands, in addition to damaging Lebanon´s economic infrastructure.

Amid a fragile truce approved by the United Nations, Israeli planes flew over eastern Lebanon on Sunday.

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz said that his government will prevent the deployment of the Lebanese army near the common border as long as it cannot count on support from a multinational force.
