Actualité - US, Israel for Civil War in Palestine
Ramallah, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) - Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh accused US and Israel Saturday of trying to promote civil war in Palestine.
In a speech on state television, Haniyeh called for unity and criticized Washington and Tel Aviv.
"US and Israel are looking for transformation of the conflict and want to avoid the constitution of a national Palestinian unity," he stated.
Haniyeh s statements were formulated hours before the arrival of US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice in Ramallah, who came to Israel as part of her tour on the Middle East.
Regional TV stations commented the objective of the tour is not to reactivate the peace process in the Middle East, rather to look for support for US strategy in Iraq.
