Actualité - Evo Morales Proclaims Agrarian Revolution
Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Jun 4 (Prensa Latina) - Bolivian President Evo Morales gave Sunday in eastern Santa Cruz province the first title deeds of the fiscal lands to poor campesinos (peasants), which is the beginning of what he called the real Agrarian Revolution.
Before thousand indigenous peoples and social organizations at Chiriguano Square, Morales explained that the concept of the agrarian Revolution is wider and stronger than the second national reform undertaken in that sector.
Besides the equitable distribution of lots, this plan includes the State technological support and the granting of credits and subsidies to small producers.
The statesman added the project will generate 10,000 direct jobs and 40,000 indirect employments.
On the other hand, he said the current economic policy has given more benefits to the Bolivian people than neoliberalism in 20 years and it is backed by 54 percent of the votes that helped him win the Movement towards Socialism´s leadership.
He highlighted that in four months in office and less than 30 days of nationalizing the hydrocarbons, the Andean nation has inked new deals with countries such Venezuela to industrialize that sector, something unprecedented in the Bolivian history.
