Actualité - Israeli Tanks Move Further into Gaza

Gaza, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) - Israeli tanks penetrated dozens of meters more in territory of the Strip of Gaza by the bordering post of Erez and took positions in Elei Sanai and Nisanit, witnesses said here Wednesday.

Nearly 20 armoured vehicles went forward and shot against Palestine positions in the middle of the night, by orders of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, to intensify attacks.

There were light confrontations between troops of Tel Aviv and members of the National Palestinian Authority, where the Israeli Army took several houses and arrested their residents.

A communiqué informed attacks would continue against governmental installations and the infrastructure of Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS).

Olmert said his government would apply long-reach and unprecedented new military measures if rebel actions continued.

An Israeli human rights organization denounced the negative of Tel Aviv for Palestinian families to visit their beloved in Israeli prisons and presented a demand to the Supreme Court.

There are more than 9,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons, including dozens of women and children, many of them innocent and even submitted to psychological and body torture, human rights organizations denounced.

Israeli authorities refused to exchange a soldier arrested by Hamas´ commands in a military base on June 25 for 1,000 Palestinian citizens, which was used to create more crisis.
