L'appel dénonce également la position honteuse du gouvernement canadienne qui appuie les actions sionistes au nom "du droit de protéger" invoqué par Israël dans ces attaques contre le peuple palestinien.
The Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) condemns the brutal military aggression unleashed by the Israeli Zionist forces against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The occupation forces are terrorizing the population with shelling, bombardments and low-flying F-16 fighter jets and Apache helicopters. They are systematically targetting Gaza's infrastructure, as well as the Palestinian government with the kidnapping of elected officials in the West Bank. This military assault along with the continued occupation of the Palestinian territories and the ongoing attacks faced by the Palestinian people at the hands of the occupation forces are crimes against humanity for which Israel must be held to account.
CPC(M-L) furthermore condemns the statements of the Government of Canada which conciliate with Israel's criminal aggression. Instead of calling a spade a spade -- that Israel is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity -- Foreign Minister Peter MacKay appealed to "both sides" to "show restraint" while adding that Israel is merely protecting its citizens. An unnamed Canadian official is quoted in the media saying Canada wants "to be sure that people respect the rights of settlers and others to live in peace in the region." What "rights" do settlers have when it is they who have usurped and occupied Palestinian land and are committing crimes against the Palestinian people? Such statements are made to disinform public opinion and cover up the Zionist policy to dispossess and eliminate the Palestinians.
CPC(M-L) calls on the Canadian working class and all justice-loving people to oppose the disinformation of the Canadian government and demand that Israel get out of Gaza and completely withdraw from the Palestinian territories now.
