Gaza, Jun 30 (Prensa Latina) - Israel escalated its attacks against the Gaza Strip Friday, targeting important points north and south of the territory, including the headquarters of the interior ministry.

Amid this situation, the Jordan government strongly condemned the intensification of Israel´s fierce military attacks against Palestinian territory.

Government spokesman Nasser Jawdeh said the offensive must stop, as well as punitive actions and massive arrests. "We warn of increasing tension in the region, and call both sides to act with restraint," he added.

The Israeli air raids today were also directed against rebel training camps, Al Fatah and Hamas offices, as well as other civil objectives, the sources indicated.

At least two missiles hit the interior ministry but caused no victims for it was empty at that moment, Palestinian security forces added.

It is obvious the Israeli military offensive aims to neutralize the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and nearly one hundred members of that organization have been arrested in the last 24 hours.

Amid this panorama, the Algerian government, on behalf of Arab countries, issued a release asking for an urgent UN Security Council meeting, and demanded that body act dynamically, as "the sovereignty of a country and people that have been violated."
