Actualité - Israel Again Breaks Truce, Kills Three
Beirut, Aug 22 (Prensa Latina) - Eight days after UN Security Council Resolution 1701 came into force, ordering a ceasefire in Israel´s 34 day war on Lebanon, Israeli soldiers shot at least three Hezbollah fighters in Shama, southern Lebanon on Tuesday.
Barely a week after the UN decision, Israeli troops have killed 12 members of Hezbollah, which provoked UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to call Prime Minister Enud Olmert to task for violating the truce.
According to the Israeli radio, this time the troops broke the truce and opened fire due to the apparent threatening manner of the Lebanese combatants almost three miles from the border.
Under the UN-ordered truce, Israeli forces must leave southern Lebanon and move to the Blue Line, the border demarcated by the international body between both nations.
Israel´s aggression into Lebanon has left over 1,200 people dead, 3,000 wounded and more than a million displaced.
A poll released Monday by the Israeli human rights organization Btselem revealed the soldiers frustration over the more than 100 troops killed in the invasion of Lebanon.
While military and political media express concern over the servicemen s distrust of their superior officers due to indecision, frequent changes of tactics during combat and difficulties in the supply of food and water.
