Actualité - Washington Freezes $268 Million of Cuba

Havana, Nov 6 (Prensa Latina) - The US government s genocidal blockade of Cuba also included 268 million dollars in frozen assets in 2005.

"One of the most inclusive and nitpicking aspects of the current tightening of the blockade is the increased US Treasury Department persecution of Cubans throughout the world," Trabajadores newspaper reports Monday.

Any bank in any country, without being a branch or subsidiary of a US bank or having US owners, is, however, subjected to extra-territorial laws from that northern nation, denounced Cuban Foreign Affairs Ministry expert Yiliam Gomez.

On Wednesday, November 8, the UN General Assembly will debate a draft resolution for the 15th consecutive year, presented by Cuba to end the US-imposed economic, trade and financial blockade.

The Cuban report on UN Resolution 60 12 denounces that Cuban officials working in international organizations have received letters demanding they close their accounts in US dollars or face a blockage.
