Actualité - Cuba for Sustainable Energy

Havana, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) The access to sustainable energy as part of Millennium Development Goals is on the table Thursday at the Sixth International Convention on Environment and Development taking place in this capital.

Susan McDade, representative of the UN Development Program, is expected to give a lecture on that world problem in the presence of 250 experts from 23 countries.

Such affair is of essential interest, mainly for developing countries, which are already suffering the effects of global warming.

The official said that the UN system has areas of cooperation with Cuba in Environment and Energy, as well as in mitigation of disasters and risk management.

Participants in the convention, the most important of this kind in the island, are expected to debate until July 6 climate change, risk management, environmental education and other issues.
